New Moon in Capricorn Solar Eclipse

The New Moon on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at 04°07′ Capricorn is an Annular Solar Eclipse, making the day most fated.

eclipse-annular-solar-eclipse-NASA-image-02.jpgAn Annular Solar Eclipse is when the Moon covers the Sun’s center, leaving the Sun’s visible outer edges to form a “ring of fire” or annulus around the Moon. The ring of fire marks the maximum stage of an annular solar eclipse. Solar eclipses happen when the New Moon casts a shadow on Earth.

In the week leading up to the Eclipse, affairs and matters are not under one’s control, and often do not work out or resolve as expected. This is not a time of issuing ultimatums, making a big decision and taking massive action, or starting a new venture.

Therefore, during this eclipse period, it is advisable to lighten the load of one’s schedule light, remain flexible and be open to unexpected developments, no matter what is on the agenda, for something else will likely arise to demand immediate attention. For one would be better to bide their time and act after the eclipse when greater clarity and judgement becomes sharper.

Solar eclipses augur the endings and finales so that something new can begin.

Therefore, its important during this period to maintain composure, showing forbearance, and withdraw for the moment and be patient as circumstances and events are brought to a dramatic conclusion making way for new developments to come.

Eclipses often create new beginnings and bright new opportunities.

The December Solar Eclipse is very fortuitous because the Sun and Moon are conjunct Jupiter, the planet of the archetypal principle of growth and expansion, optimism and generosity, tolerance and acceptance of others, broadened experience and integration into a larger whole, leading one to pursue success, accomplishment, and achievement in whatever areas of life that one considers important, and provides a sense of significance.

Therefore, the December New Moon augurs a time of clarity, optimism, and renewed trust in the future to move forward along with auguring surprise announcement (e.g. weddings, anniversaries, planned celebrations, etc.) or a spontaneous fortuitous occurrence, a rejoicing over a happy event, or enjoying some well-deserved rewards, a creative idea yielding fruit in the professional world, or getting out of an oppressive situation and able move on to a new period of spiritual and personal growth and happiness with a greater sense clarity and purpose.

ABOUT THE NEW MOON

According to traditional sources, the New Moon represents the end of one cycle and the beginning of another new 28-day cycle.

Archetypally, the New Moon symbolically represents:

  • the fetus in the womb (Moon) waiting to be born into a new life (Sun),
  • the Gnostic Marriage of Sol (the Sun) and Lunar (the Moon) – the alchemical marriage of male and female,
  • the Greek goddess Hestia (Vesta) – the crackling blaze of the home hearth,
  • the interplay of instinct (Moon) and ego (Sun), of soul (Moon) and spirit, yin (feminine) and yang (masculine) principles, Mother (Moon) and Father (Sun) or Man (Sun) and Woman (Moon), and existence (Moon) and meaning (Sun).

It is often viewed as a symbol of endings and new beginnings. The nighttime darkness of the New Moon symbolizes the mysterious watery depth of the unconscious – the transpersonal realm where personal identity and individual boundaries dissolve and the sense of direction and ego are lost for the purpose of cleansing away the past in order to prepare the way for the future.
